Novel Solution For Dyslexia

A dyslexia expert contacted Gary Craig, founder of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), requesting that Gary meet with him and his severely dyslexic patient, Rachel (whose name has been changed to protect privacy).

What unfolded should interest educators, parents, students and anyone else involved with learning disabilities. You should find impressive potential in this new method.

Rachel had a lifelong problem with numbers ... she always screwed them up when she wrote them down, especially if someone told her the numbers verbally.

Also, Rachel had a problem with straight lines -- any lines she attempted to draw always had curves.

Another problem was that she felt an "internal contraction" whenever she looked at converging lines -- for example in the corner of a room where three walls come together. She had to look away.

Gary started there -- with Rachel's feeling of internal contraction as a guideline. After about 30 minutes of EFT, the internal contraction diminished from an 8 intensity to a zero ... and with it her dyslexia disappeared.

How did Gary, with this simple emotional acupuncture technique, have success when the dyslexia expert failed?

Here's the theory behind EFT: at the root of a learning disorder like dyslexia, lies a disruption in the body's subtle energy system. EFT is designed to correct this energy imbalance ... you simply use your fingertips to tap on a series of acupuncture points.

EFT is a do-it-yourself form of acupuncture ... without the needles.

You may know that acupuncture has been used successfully for centuries to correct the energy imbalances that are believed to be at the root of illness, disease and disorders. EFT has modernized acupuncture ... and anyone can learn the basics of EFT and it can be self-applied (usually in minutes).

This is a very different approach than most dyslexia experts are using. In general they do not recognize that the main reason for dyslexia is a disruption in the meridian system.

In fact, according to the International Dyslexia Association, the cause of dyslexia is said to be genetic or neurobiological ... but they don't really know. Also, they contend, there is no cure for dyslexia ... but they propose that by creating conventional coping strategies with "experts" the effects of dyslexia can be overcome.

With the EFT discovery, this reasoning becomes antiquated. Dyslexia can be terminated, sometimes in minutes, and the method involved has nothing to do with one's genetics or biology.

Back to Rachel's Story

While it took just 30 minutes of EFT to eliminate Rachel's dyslexia, I want to share with you the route that Gary took to get there. They began doing EFT on Rachel's feeling of internal contraction when she looked at converging lines.

During the process, she had a memory of herself looking through the vertical bars of her crib (straight lines?) while her mother was leaving the room. This translated to a great fear (internal contraction?) that her mother was abandoning her.

Often as you go through a tapping process with EFT, memories like this will surface and these often lead to the "core issues" underlying the problem. So Gary sidetracked a little and did EFT with Rachel on some insecurities about her mother.

These issues quickly faded ... and then Rachel could look at the corner of the room with no problem whatsoever -- in fact, she could stare at the corner for several minutes and there was no discomfort or internal contraction -- just boredom.

Then Gary gave her pen and paper and asked her to write down phone numbers. This, she reported, was her worst problem.

So, after the preceding EFT session he verbally recited six different phone numbers and she got them 100 percent right – without a pause. Rachel had this result even though they had never directly worked on the number problem. It was a welcome "side benefit."

Then he had Rachel draw straight lines that, to Gary's eyes, looked fine ... but they weren't perfect so she wasn't happy with them.So Gary drew some lines on the page as well and she saw that his weren't perfect either – and thus she realized that her own drawing was normal.

So whatever the expert thought was the cause of Rachel's dyslexia, the success of EFT indicates that the actual cause was disruptions in her subtle energies caused by this unresolved emotional insecurity about her mother leaving her as a baby.

After finishing with Rachel, the dyslexia expert asked Gary to help him with his failure obsession. The expert obsessed about failing to cure his dyslexic clients and worried about it constantly. They only spent 3 or 4 minutes on the issue and Gary has no idea how much headway they truly made ... but the expert left laughing about the problem.
